Rainy Season Ready: Spring Maintenance Tips

Spring in Vancouver doesn’t ease in—it shows up with rain, damp air, and a whole lot of opportunities for small issues to turn into expensive ones.

After a long, wet winter, now’s the time to take a closer look at how your home handled it, and fix anything before the next stretch of rain hits.

Start outside.

Gutters and downspouts take a beating through the winter months. If they’re clogged, water won’t drain properly, and that’s when you start seeing overflow, staining, and even water getting too close to your foundation.

It’s also a good idea to check around windows, doors, and exterior trim. Caulking can crack over time, especially with constant moisture. Resealing now can prevent water from working its way in.

Inside the home, moisture is the big one.

Bathrooms tend to show signs first: mirrors staying foggy, humidity lingering, or even small spots starting to form in corners. Make sure your ventilation is actually doing its job. If not, it’s something worth addressing sooner rather than later.

Tiled areas are another thing to keep an eye on. Grout and silicone don’t last forever, and once they fail, water can get behind the surface where you can’t see it.

Spring maintenance might not be the most exciting part of homeownership—but in a climate like Vancouver’s, it’s one of the most important.

A little attention now can save a major repair later.

Not sure what to look for? We can help catch the small issues before they turn into big ones.

Get ahead of spring maintenance now!
